Remarks by Ambassador Tony Garza at the Religious Service Conducted in Memory of the Victims of the Terrorist Attack in London on July 7

Mexico City, Mexico
July 12, 2005

On behalf of the American people and the government of the United States, I want to express our condolences to the people of Great Britain in the face of this appalling tragedy caused by terrorists.

The attacks in London last Thursday strengthen the unity of the civilized world to foster tolerance and stop the murder of innocent civilians.

As President Bush said about these terrible events: “...we will not yield nor give in to these terrorists. We will find them, and we will bring them to justice. And, at the same time, we will spread an ideology of hope and compassion that will overwhelm their ideology of hate.”
