Amb. Garza and Mayor Lopez-Obrador

Ambassador Garza and Mayor Lopez-Obrador observe first-hand the
reduced exhaust of a filtered bus. The technology, developed
under a program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),
was applied to a fleet of buses in the Federal District.

"Retrofitting public transit buses is applying our
cutting-edge technology and placing that technology
at the service of all. It means 90 percent less
pollution and that benefits 100 percent of the
people living in this great city and national
capital,” said U.S. Ambassador Tony Garza.

Officials at the ceremony

The January 24 ceremony was attended by Undersecretary Giner de
los Ríos from the Ministry of the Environment and Natural
Resources, Luz Elena Gonzales, Director of the Public Transit
Authority, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Secretary of the Environment of
the Federal District, and Mayor Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador,
among others.
