Ambassador Garza Receives Award for Support of Mexico’s Plain Language Initiative
On September 28, 2005, Ambassador Garza received an award from the Secretary of the Comptroller General’s Office Eduardo Romero Ramos, for collaboration between the two countries on the Plain Language Network, a U.S. government initiative designed to promote the use of clear and simple language in every government document.

“A democratic government must speak with the clear voice of its people, and enable all citizens to understand the rules, laws, and policies that guide their society. The United States welcomes the opportunity to work with Mexico, under the framework of the Plain Language Network, to promote this goal,” said U.S. Ambassador Tony Garza.

Heading the ceremony were Edward Kadunc, AID Mexico Director; Ewa Polano, Swedish Ambassador; Mario Rodarte, Spokesman for the Plain Language Network in Mexico; Eduardo Romero Ramos, Secretary of the Comptroller General’s Office; Jesús Mesta Delgado, Assistant Secretary; Ambassador Garza; and Odile Sallar, OECD representative.
