Ambassador Garza Commemorates Black History Month

As part of the celebration of Black History Month, on Tuesday, February 21, 2006, Ambassador Garza along with a group of students of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Secondary School took part in a ceremony to lay a wreath to commemorate Dr. King and his recently deceased widow, Coretta Scott King.

Honor students at the Martin Luther King Secondary School took part in the ceremony along with Ambassador Tony Garza. They are featured in this picture along with Dr. Joel Cortes, Secondary Education Coordinator for the Federal District, teacher Rosalinda de Lourdes Velarde, and Deputy Cultural Attaché Kristin Stewart.

Wreath honoring Mrs. King

In honor of the late Mrs. King and her husband, and in celebration of Black History Month, Amb. Garza invited the students of the Martin Luther King Secondary School to lay this wreath "to commemorate the values the Kings fought for—peace, justice and equality."
