Pink – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Mexico City, October 1, 2008 - The U.S. Embassy is going pink.
No, we’re not trying to give fashion advice. We’re going pink
for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Maybe you’ve seen the ribbon
on our building, or our pink website.
Since the first Breast Cancer Awareness Month in 1985, many
groups around the world have gone pink, joining the effort
to raise awareness of the importance of breast cancer screening
and early detection in saving women’s lives. This effort has
made a difference in the United States, where mammography
rates have more than doubled for women age 50 and older, and
breast cancer deaths have declined in the last 20 years.

years were horrified to hear their plane had gone missing,

sound. I extend my deepest condolences and send heartfelt
prayers to their families and friends, and to those of the
pilot, Matthew Peter Juneau, and Jake Brisbin, Executive Director
