U.S. Consul General Guadalajara

Edward Ramotowski assumed his current position as U.S. Consul General in Guadalajara in September 2006. Prior to his arrival in Guadalajara, since August 2004, he was Director of the Office of Field Support and Liaison for Visa Services at the U.S. Department of State, where he served concurrently as Acting Managing Director for Visa Services for the past year. In Washington he also worked as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs, and previously as country officer in the Office of Andean Affairs, as well as a watch officer in the State Department Operations Center and on the White House Situation Room staff. Overseas Mr. Ramotowski served as Chief of the Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy in Nassau, Bahamas and as U.S. Consul in Warsaw, Poland, with other tours of duty as a consular and political officer in Bogota, Colombia and consular officer in Kingston Jamaica. He has received several Department of State Superior Honor and Meritorious Honor Awards, and in 2000 was selected as Consular Officer of the Year.
Mr. Ramotowski joined the Foreign Service in 1986. He is a graduate of
Georgetown University and the National War College. He is married to Foreign
Service officer Jemile Bertot, and they have two children, David and Stephen,
ages 9 and 3 respectively.
